One of my favorite Sedona stores. Much of what you will discover in this well-stocked store is not found in other Sedona shops. If you like Native rugs and designs you’ll definitely want to see this collection of Zapotec rugs from Mexico in all sizes from small throw rugs to large floor sizes. Zapotec weaving is famous for its hand-woven texture and ancient geometric patterns. Uniquely Southwest also offers a nice choice of Peruvian rugs, seldom seen in these parts, hand-made pottery, Saguaro sculptures, and Santa Clara del Cobre copper bowls and dishes.

What You Want
West Sedona
15 View Drive
928.203.9208

It’s definitely the only one of its kind in Sedona or the Verde Valley. A tiny A-frame building about the size of your foyer or back porch, tucked off Hwy 89A right behind Mountain Bike Heaven, the West Sedona mountain biker central. Pipes, rolling papers, quality tobacco like American Spirits by the can or pack, cool t-shirts, drums, Indonesian art, and bongs(?). If I did not know better, I might think it was a head shop! Whatever this UFO is, it’s got what you want...

If you’ve been a rock, gem, or mineral collector anywhere in the U.S. over the last 50 years, you probably know about Ramsey’s. Jeff Goebel and Fred Shute, in business together since 1984, make up the team at Ramsey’s. Jeff is a master jeweler with over 25 years of experience and his partner Fred is a certified Gemologist and Geologist. Together their synergy works to design and execute custom creations in silver, gold, and gems. The shop was moved to its present “Y” location in 1996 and offers a tremendous collection of jewelry and gemstones.

Samurai Swords and Tsubas

Kanayama

http://artsales.com/kanayama

Bruce Kirkpatrick collects and sells Japanese tsuba, the beautiful Samurai sword guards that graced these dynamic weapons. He is a first-rate historian and one of a handful of experts in this specialized field. His website features colorful and informative articles on Japanese Samurai sword guard (Tsuba) history written from a Jesuit/European/Japanese nexus perspective. Bruce has been a Sedona coffeehouse fixture for many years. Spy on him some morning at the Sedona Coffee Roasters in West Sedona and you’ll notice him working diligently on a tsuba, rubbing and polishing it fervently in order to attain the perfect patina. Sit down and ask a question only if you have a bit of time; as Bruce likes to point out, he loves his business and spares no effort in sharing the beauty of the history with anyone who is sincerely interested. Translation: he loves to talk.
