Though you may hiking in a hidden back canyon and discover some small ruin tucked under a rocky overhang, treat your visit the same as if you were at a National Monument with lots of other visitors around. In other words, the future of these places depends upon all visitors’ good will, respect, and common sense. Get their vehicle license plate number and as much description of the perps as possible. Without your quick response, vandals will continue to get away with destruction. I, for one, have been happy to carry my cell phone when I go hiking for this reason alone.
